Health Equity for Pennsylvania

Our mission is to support school-based health centers across Pennsylvania so the most vulnerable children and youth have access to quality healthcare where students already spend the majority of their time- in school. We partner with medical providers, nonprofits and school districts to create better health outcomes for youth across the Commonwealth.

Founded in 2020, the Pennsylvania School-Based Health Alliance is the Pennsylvania affiliate to the National School-Based Health Alliance, the voice for school-based health care since 1995.

Quality Care, Right in the School

In-school medical providers, including licensed nurse practitioners, are able to provide acute and preventive care, render diagnoses and write prescriptions. It is like having an urgent care right in the school. The services range from health screenings, delivering sick and injury care, preventive well-child care and sports physicals, administering flu shots and vaccines, providing confidential reproductive health care for teens, conducting mental health and substance screenings and providing treatment, as well as dental care, vision, and more.

Good Health & Increased Attendance

We believe students shouldn’t miss school for health concerns. Grounded in equity and inclusion to advance racial and social justice, school-based health centers (SBHCs) represent a shared commitment to improve health care access for underserved communities.

We envision a future where every student, parent and Title One school in Pennsylvania has access to quality health care conveniently located at school.
